“Hemant Soren Challenges ED Arrest: Supreme Court Petition Urging Review of Alleged Land Scam” Following his arrest by the probe agency, Soren relinquished the chief minister post on Wednesday, January 31. Champai Soren is set to fill in as the new chief minister. The ED, represented by Tushar Mehta, informed the court that a similar petition had been filed before the Jharkhand High Court. In response, Sibal stated that the petition before the high court would be withdrawn, urging the Supreme Court to hear the matter.

Simultaneously, a local PMLA court in Ranchi, hearing Soren’s plea, sent him to one-day judicial custody until Friday, February 2, rejecting the ED’s plea for a 10-day custody. The PMLA court is scheduled to hear Soren’s plea on Friday.
